Using The Production™ with Zoom

How to connect it, what it does, and how to remove it.

1. Before you start

You need an account at theproduction.app and a Zoom account that can record to the Zoom cloud. Local recordings saved to your own computer are not visible to us and cannot be brought in automatically.

Connecting Zoom is optional. The Production works without it — this only removes the step of moving transcripts across by hand.

2. Adding the app

  1. Sign in at theproduction.app.
  2. Go to Settings → Booking.
  3. Find Zoom (recordings & transcripts) and press Connect.
  4. Zoom asks you to confirm what you are allowing. Review it and accept.
  5. You are returned to The Production, and the section shows the Zoom account you connected.

Or start it straight from here — you will be asked to sign in first if you are not already:

Connect Zoom

The connection belongs to the person who made it. If someone else on your team needs it, they connect their own.

3. What happens after a recording

When a cloud recording finishes, Zoom tells us. We collect the written transcript Zoom has already produced and attach it to the matching episode in your workspace, then draft a summary, pull out quotes worth using, and create the follow-up tasks the conversation implies. The summary shows on the episode and under Transcripts. If the AI couldn't write it just then, the transcript says so and offers to try again.

Recordings usually appear within a few minutes of Zoom finishing its processing. If you connected after a recording was made, Bring in recent recordings fetches the last 30 days. It only brings in what isn't already here, so pressing it again never has the AI read a transcript twice or replace a summary. To have one read again, open it under Transcripts and press Read this transcript again.

A recording is matched to an episode by the meeting it came from and by the guest's name. If we cannot work out where one belongs, it waits under Transcripts and you can attach it yourself.

4. Booking a recording

If you use the booking page, choosing a time creates the Zoom meeting for you and sends the guest the joining link with a calendar invite. One meeting per booking. We never join, start, change or delete a meeting.

5. What we read, and what we keep

  • Your Zoom name and email, once, so we know which account is connected.
  • A list of your cloud recordings, to find the one an episode belongs to.
  • The transcript file for those recordings.
  • The recording's audio, only when you ask for audio clean-up (or a rule you set up does). It is passed straight to Auphonic, our audio clean-up service, and the cleaned file is saved with the episode.

Video is never downloaded or stored, and audio is only ever read for clean-up you asked for.

Transcripts are stored in your own workspace, visible only to your team, never shared between customers, and kept while your account is open, like your documents and photos. Only audio and video files are removed automatically: 30 days after the recording by default (adjustable in Settings), with a week's warning.

6. Removing the app

You can disconnect from either end.

From The Production: Settings → Booking → Zoom → Disconnect.

From Zoom: sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace, open Manage → Added Apps, find The Production and press Remove.

Either way we delete the stored connection immediately. Transcripts already brought in stay in your workspace — they are your work — and are kept while your account is open. To remove those as well, delete them in the app, or delete the whole account from Settings → Account.

7. If something is not working

  • Nothing arrives: check the meeting was recorded to the Zoom cloud rather than locally, and that Zoom has finished processing it.
  • Older recordings missing: use Bring in recent recordings, which covers the last 30 days.
  • No transcript on a recording: Zoom only produces one when audio transcription is switched on in your Zoom recording settings.
  • Still stuck: disconnect and connect again, which issues a fresh authorization.

Anything else, email support@theunfairai.com and a person will read it.
